This Passive house was designed with comfort, affordability, in mind and features fossil fuel free heating year round and low carbon materials. It uses double stud exterior walls with an air tight envelope to minimize thermal bridging and maximize energy efficiency.

This 12 story mixed-use commercial building is designed Elevation with the ideas of biophilic design in mind. Its mass is derived from the shape of a leaf and includes large vegetated balconies on the residential floors as well as access to views of the facades vegetation on the bottom 2 retail floors and floors 3-6 which include office space as well as day care and dedicated restaurant space.

The Newell Wellness Center is a mental health and addictions facility designed for the city of Brooks, Alberta. It is my thesis project, and the problem I was attempting to solve is finding solutions which help to improve the well-being of patients during their stay through the subtleties of good design. It would turn out that the problems I observed with older health care facilities are well documented and plenty of research and studies have been done to assess and correct those problems. Modern facilities employ design ideas such as biophilic and salutogenic design to not just treat illnesses, but improve the patients well-being. Ive implemented those ideas into my design by introducing plenty of natural light, abundant vegetation throughout, and by using natural materials in place of highly clinical elements. I've also put consideration into space planning which mitigates the transfer of noise in places which should be quiet while arranging the spaces to make for easy wayfinding and provide for an effective amount of therapeutic spaces.
