WHEN DESIGNING A MINIMALIST HOME I REMOVED UNNECESSARY BOUNDRIES TO CREATE AN OPEN FLOW THROUGHOUT THE FLOOR PLAN. TO MAXIMIZE THE SPACE A VARIETY OF FURNITURE AND ARCHITECURAL ELEMENTS HAVE MULTIFUNCTIONAL USE. CERTIFIED, SUSTAINABLE AND RECYCLED MATERIALS ENVELOP THE HOME. WITH LARGE EXPANSES OF GLASS WINDOWS IT BLURS THE BARRIER BETWEEN OUTSIDE AND IN. FOCUSING ON CREATING INTIMACY AND AMBIANCE WITH SPACIAL COMPRESSION IN THE BEDROOMS VS EXPANSION AND LIGHT WITH THE OPEN FLOOR PLAN.
Located in the heart of downtown Calgary, HealU Wellness takes a modern approach towards a primary care clinic. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by touch screen kiosks allowing for simplicity and a user friendly experience. When choosing materials for this space, I wanted to step away from a typical cold sterile environment and welcome the patients and staff to feel at ease upon arrival. By implementing soft textures, curved lines and warm tones with pops of color, it removes the typical uncomfortble atmosphere found in clinics.
To create a space that resembles the companies brand as environmentalists. The design will promote inclusivity and develop an ever-growing sense of community. Minimizing the impact on the environment by constructing out of recyclable and sustainable materials. Each space is arranged to pull you from one room to the other with flowing lines and soft shapes. The asymmetrical construction and dynamic forms should generate a balance between connection and privacy. Introducing a biophilic design by blending the indoor-outdoor experience to an office layout. Incorporating natural lighting with views to the outdoors to make workers feel energetic and productive. Allowing for reconfigurable collaborative zones while integrating nature and green space throughout the office. Employees should feel at ease with the organic floor plan and natural materials, initiating creativity amongst the team, and achieving better results for the company.
