A contemporary low-rise commercial building located in the financial district, within the heart of downtown Vancouver. The contemporary architecture of MAREA blends harmoniously with the current trends of “The city of Glass”. The south elevation features a large entry leading to a shared lobby, effectively serving both residents and office workers. The lobby level features a large green wall teeming with vegetation, a public coffee shop and a panoramic glass elevator to transport users through the apartment block and office floors, to a rooftop restaurant overlooking the marina. The north-east elevation features two stylistic arrangements of apartments. Prominantely seated above this residential block are three stories of open plan, flexible office space. The west elevation features a ground-to-roof vertical garden, complimented with rays of natural light provided by a generous skylight. The allure of MAREA targets young career minded professionals and new families seeking to establish themselves in the city of Vancouver. The proposed building exemplifies contemporary architecture, practicality, functionality and sustainability.

The design of Silver Star’s Community Centre is an interpretation of how architecture should intervene in order to improve the quality of life of Silver Star’s Community and its tourists. This project aims to create an integrated commercial building with beautiful and interesting uses, which can be enjoyed all year round. Having a Community Centre in the Village of Silver Star could contribute to the enhancement and advancement of Silver Star’s reputation as a premier, family oriented, all-season mountain resort in British Columbia. At the same time it could also benefit locals as it would avoid commuting to the closest town for basic activities such as swimming or playing at a playground. Silver Star’s Community Centre offers flexible spaces for its users and is been designed to be a common hub for adults and children to interact, do sporting activities and stay connected with nature while enjoying an indoor/outdoor environment. STRUCTURE: Exposed glu-lam structural columns on truss girders. SIP panels. High-efficiency glazing to help mitigate solar heat gain.
