Derived from the Japanese word for friend (Tomodachi), Tomo Restaurant opening in the newly built Capstone Building will be just that, a friend. With an emphasis on Wabi-Sabi design, the space will attract a wide variety of clientel, with its cleanliness and beautiful imperfections. Boasting a dining space, bar and lounge for more intimate occasions, the design will feature natural materials, concrete and warm neutral colours. A focus will be put on acoustical protection within the space, universal design tactics and an emphasis on the natural light flooding in through the front windows.

The home will be a modern and minimalistic sanctuary, featuring nods to the beautiful surrounding area through the use of greenery and a natural toned colour palette. The goals of a sustainable home will be achieved by meeting BC step code, reducing energy consumption through a passive home building envelope and sourcing sustainable products and finishes. A focus will be put on the climate and weather elements known to Victoria such as excess rain and wind so that their home is protected and feels comfortable during all seasons.

The Exchange Hotel is located in the former home of the Vancouver Stock Exchange. For nearly a century, the building has been established as an intersection of culture, hospitality and style in Vancouver. The clients expect the refurbishment to focus on luxury while being mindful of the environment and impact we all have on the climate. The space will feel sophisticated and elegant while still feeling simple and clean. This will be achieved through the use of modern furniture with timeless styles, natural colours and warm lighting choices.

Focusing on a Japandi design style, the space will be built to meet the clients requirements while still surprising them. Light toned wood, natural elements and simple shapes will help bring this to fruition. Thought will be put into creating an environment that will last through the different phases of the clients lives. Thus allowing the space to be their ‘forever home’.
