50 million people live with Alzheimer's in our world today. The Alzheimer's village in the Netherlands and France strategized and executed a neighborhood designed for people living with dementia. At De Hogeweyk residents live there with maximum independence and privacy. The village is occupied in a block town of WEESP. The village has streets, squares, parks, and a garden with a selection of activities ranging from restaurants, bars, theatres, and spas. This is to be utilized by the residents AND the community. In 2020 another dementia village opened up in France. With 8 acres of public nursing utilized in a traditional french village. The villages host 7,8 people with daily activities like cooking, cleaning, and buying bread at the local market. Allows for residents to continue their day-to-day living. Part of the community and the heart of the project was to open up to the neighborhood, municipal libraries, and volunteers for their 120 residences. The staff understand and prioritize the work in the villages. The private homes offer freedom and ensure continuity in daily operations.
