The first design is the box for the fictional product "Peanut Buddy Bars". The box was mocked up by printing off the packaging design and then cutting out the die-line template, folding and taping it together to make a full-scale product mockup. The second design is for a suite of men's hair and beard care products called "Beardo". The mockup was created in Adobe Dimensions and Photoshop.

Master and Apprentice Tattoo Magazine. The idea behind this magazine was to have a publication that tattoo enthusiasts could go to to read about well-established, often famous artists as well as up-and-coming new ones. Interviews, biographies, and galleries would be included in the sections for these masters and apprentices. There would also be a product review section to go over new inks, machines, or hygienic offerings such as enclaves. Finally, a recurring article called "Scratcher Catcher" would focus on some terrible "kitchen tattoos" done by "scratchers" (unlicensed home tattooists) and the problems that often come along with them. Please Note: Photos and tattoo art are not my own. This is a fictional publication concept only.

This is a re-design of the 2018 IPCC Summary for Policy Makers document. The document summarizes the findings in the IPCC's Special Report on the global effects of climate change. Working as an exploration geologist for 14 years means I've reviewed a lot of scientific documents so I re-designed the report to make it easier for the reader to quickly view the references associated with each paragraph. I also wanted to bolden the confidence levels for each statement in an effort to increase trust in the findings.

The goal of this project was to re-brand the London Building in downtown Vancouver. It's currently VCAD Vancouver's campus, but the fictional project brief states that it will be completely remodeled into an updated and modern residential building. Saltwater City Lofts are located in the former The London Building. Built in 1912, the location is recognized by the city of Vancouver as a heritage building. “Saltwater City” (Haam Sui Fow) was the Cantonese nickname for Vancouver used by the city's early Chinese community.

A graphic apparel company geared toward 15-40-year-olds with eccentric tastes and dark or odd (read "awesome") senses of humour. I've always been interested in ancient history/pre-history, mythology, symbology, and sci-fi. All these things get mashed-up to create Atomic Druid. Think Mad Magazine mixed with Ancient Aliens and The Necronomicon.

Belgian surrealist Renee Magritte (1898-1967) was well known for creating artworks that challenged the observer's intrinsic views on reality. Perhaps his most famous work, The Son of Man, depicts a man in a suit standing on a seawall facing the observer with a green apple floating in front of his face. Magritte explained that the painting represents the sense that the true nature of things is often obscured from our view by something else. Contrary to concealing someone's identity, a piece created by award-winning graphic designer Chris Thornley shows an apple revealing an identity. Former CEO of Apple Computers, Steve Jobs, died in 2011. In May of that year, months before Jobs death, Thornley redesigned the iconic apple logo to show Jobs' silhouette in place of the "bite" to honor the dying visionary. Human identity, both public and personal, is a serious topic of discussion in today's world in many ways. The internet, in a way, has provided people with the opportunity to have multiple identities. Our online identity can often be quite different from what our family and friends know. Perhaps it only reveals what we want others to see, concealing all of our flaws and anxieties. Opposite to this, for many people, the internet is the only place where they can be their true selves as they may not feel accepted in their own physical reality. I feel combing these two works by Magritte and Thornley is an interesting way to explore the idea of identity in the modern world and how truly important it is to humanity. This could easily be made into t-shirt designs or used in op-ed pieces on the subject of identity in today's online world.
