Visual College of Art and Design of Calgary (VCAD) officially opened its doors in Calgary in May, welcoming students into a newly renovated space, complete with industry standard labs, a community art gallery, and bright student lounge.

With programs in Graphic Design, Interior Design, Architecture Technology and Design, Marketing and Merchandising for Fashion, and 3D Animation Art and Design, VCAD will bring its exceptional programming to support the growth of the economy in Alberta and provide its students with the training necessary to to pursue their dream careers. With hands-on, practical learning, graduates can be confident that they’ll enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge leading employers are looking for.

In a letter congratulating VCAD on its new campus, Premier Kenney shared his support for VCAD’s vision, “Students in our province must have opportunities to pursue their passions and acquire practical, marketable skills for the future. VCAD offers valuable programs that will help students train for careers in the expanding fields of information technology, visual arts and interactive digital media.”

The new Calgary campus has also officially unveiled of The Gallery @ VCAD – a new, free space for local artists to showcase their work. Its inaugural artist, Kinga B. Brassay, is a versatile artist and designer from Targu-Mures, Transylvania. Her paintings reflect the many colours of her life, personality, and work, as well as her openness to new cultural scenes and adaptability to new environments. The Gallery @ VCAD will be open to the public starting May 27, 2019 and will be taking applications from anyone wishing to use the space.
