We had a full house last Friday, November 22 at the Vancouver Club! Four Fashion Design students at VCAD – Chantel Chang, Chay Clayton, Genette Nujar, and Lounacitas Murdocco – brought their designs to the runway during the Vancouver International Fashion Festival.

This year, the theme of the show was “radiant with hope”, evoking the Renaissance era, which spanned throughout the 14th to 17th centuries in Florence, Italy. Many of the designers received inspiration from famous Renaissance artists including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, and more.

“The Renaissance theme of the show was as beautiful as we envisioned,” says Laela Blanchet, Fashion Design Program Coordinator, VCAD. “My experience working with the team has been phenomenal: we are like a good bottle of wine, only getting better with each passing year.”

An excellent showcase for our VCAD students, graduates and the fashion community, we saw a series of original garments rich with colours, intricate designs, and detailing.

VCAD’s Fashion Design program is taught by industry-experienced instructors in state-of the-art fashion labs in downtown Vancouver. Choose between a five-term fashion-focused program, or extend your education and complete seven terms with a Specialization in Marketing – where you can enhance your skills in social media, global marketing, e-commerce for fashion, and more.
