Kawkaba magazine is a collaborative publication intended to pull together the voices of creatives and artists who identify themselves as “third culture”; those who are still connected to home and heritage, but are either physically away and/or feel that they live a life that is somehow detached from their origins. Although many folx may be living with what some might call contradicting circumstances, Kawkaba recognizes the need and value of celebrating roots and diaspora, hoping that this publication can create opportunities for visibility as well as revival, a new renaissance. The name Kawkaba is the Arabic word for constellation, the name was chosen to reflect Kawkaba’s intention to pull people together and create a platform. Although the magazine has a strong Middle Eastern focus as it was made with the intention to serve creatives from/or connected to the MENA, Kawkaba is an inclusive publication and platform that aims to open a contemporary space unlike any other arts and culture media outlet.
