Fall collections show a variety of new fashion styles
Vancouver, BC - March 15, 2010 - New York, London, Milan, Paris - now that the four biggest fashion weeks are over, what have we seen?
Many designers turned to soft, subtle colours and serene lines for the Fall 2010 ready-to-wear collections perhaps in response to the slow, but steady revival of the world's economy.
Marc Jacobs showed an exquisite Marc Jacobs Collection in New York by mixing pretty pastels with warm greys, and also threw in several sparkling red carpet dresses at the end of his show. British fashion houses Burberry Prorsum added a selection of brilliant outerwear pieces with giant collared shearling jackets and cropped military-style bombers. Pringle of Scotland, famous for their knits, showed cozy cashmere tops and expertly knitted dresses.
Over in Milan, Prada presented extremely feminine dresses with ruffled busts and Gucci's Frida Giannini surprised us with creamy white dresses falling just above the knee topped with gorgeous suede coats.
And lastly, we witnessed several heavy-hitters in Paris; John Galliano for Christian Dior showcased a country-riding theme and Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel gave us a chilling iceberg spectacle. Despite each designer's different themes, a common fashion trend of leather coats, faux fur, and chunky knits in white and chocolate brown resonated.
Although we are ready to pack away our winter closets, thanks to these designers we are secretly eager for fall to come soon!
