VCAD Diploma Program the first step to successful design career
Vancouver, BC - October 17, 2009 - Those who belong to the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC) stand out against their competition and are more likely to gain client confidence.
But first, graphic designers must gain a solid foundation of skills through professional training. The Graphic Design Program at the Vancouver College of Art and Design (VCAD) helps lay the foundation for a successful career in graphic arts.
VCAD's Graphic Design Program covers design fundamentals, creative software, marketing and business practices and web design, among other skills. Graduates will also create a professional portfolio to demonstrate their creative talents.
Once in the workforce, graphic designers will find a competitive advantage by joining GDC.
"The greatest benefit of a GDC membership is being able to differentiate yourself in the marketplace," says Melanie MacDonald, Administrative Director for the GDC . "Professional members of the GDC are able to advise their clients that they have passed a rigorous portfolio review by the national professional association and that they adhere to a strict code of ethics for their client's benefit and protection."
The GDC, which has a membership of approximately 1,300 people across the country, is the only national professional association for graphic designers in Canada. Members can seek professional advice, browse graphic design job listings, network with potential clients, post their design portfolios on the society's website for free, and receive industry discounts.
