New Art School Raises Bar on Quality of Programming without Jacking Tuition
Vancouver, BC - Just three weeks into the spring term, officials at Vancouver College of Art and Design are already addressing the high cost of education. Unlike other schools, however, VCAD administrators plan to on keep tuition fees lower without any risk to the institute's high educational standards.
"Higher tuition fees deter students from pursuing education," says Larry Heinzlmeir, VCAD VP of Admissions. "When students worry about the cost of education, they focus less and less on the outcomes of their education, which in most cases, means their career goals"
The solution, according to Heinzlmeir, is simple: Focus on training students to develop the skills that employers demand and eliminate unnecessary and redundant bits of curriculum. Each program of studies at VCAD follows a career-focused curriculum that combines theoretical learning with hands-on training so students develop the skills needed to succeed in their chosen careers.
"If you reduce the cost of secondary expenses without taking away from the quality of your curriculum, you're putting the student first," smiles Heinzlmeir "That's what we're here for."
Since establishing the downtown Vancouver campus in February, VCAD has positioned itself as the city's newest centre for Applied Arts education. Programs include Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion and 3D Modeling, Animation Art and Design. The next intake session is already planned for the summer with the launch of the Fashion Design and the Marketing and Merchandising for Fashion programs. In addition, the institute is scheduling the next round of cohorts for the Graphic Design, 3D Modeling Animation and Interior Design programs.
