The latest trends of 2019 hit the runway on Sunday, June 9th at the Vancouver International Fashion Show.

Friends, family members, and insiders from Vancouver’s fashion scene gathered at The Vancouver Club to see the talent and inspiration behind some of VCAD’s top Fashion Design students.

This sold-out event, featuring the unique work from Jade Walker, Gundula (“Gwen”) Hirn, Noushin Sahebnassagh, Emily Shahinzadeh, and Katie Chang provided a showcase of original garments and thoughtful designs.

As the theme for this show was “inspiration”, many of these individuals sought inspiration from opera singers, kimono designers, and much more.

Featuring various patterns, cuts, and colours, the attendees were “wowed” with a variety of high-low dresses, pant suits, and elegant dresses. After the runway portion, attendees had the opportunity to meet with these talented designers, chat with fashion industry leaders, and review other portfolios from VCAD fashion graduates.

Recognized by one of the top wholesale textile distribution companies in the fashion fabric industry, Gwen was awarded the TÉLIO scholarship, which includes a $1,000 cash award.

TÉLIO supports emerging talent, as an integral part of their philosophy, to prepare young fashion designers for the realities of the industry and to aid the self-promotion of these new graduates. Learn more about TÉLIO’s history here.
