VCAD to Award up to $12,000 in Fashion Scholarships This Summer
Scholarships give talented fashion hopefuls a chance to show off their skills
Vancouver, BC – June 13, 2012 – The Visual College of Art and Design (VCAD) will award up to $12,000 in fashion scholarships this July. Interested applicants are asked to submit an application package tailored to their VCAD fashion program of choice.Students looking to pursue Fashion Design are required to choose three types of wear to design and draw, placing the illustrated outfits on a figure. They can choose from Women’s Wear, Men’s Wear, Business Wear, Children’s Wear and Sportswear. Applicants also must submit a 250 word essay describing the fabrics they would use, the reasons for selecting them, which demographic their designs target and why.
For those who are interested in a Marketing and Merchandising for Fashion scholarship, they must design a cover for a fashion magazine that suggests that the content will address new fashion trends in eco-clothing. The cover must reference articles to be found within the magazine, including a profile of a current designer or a manufacturer of environmental friendly clothing.
“Vancouver’s fashion scene has received international attention in recent years and VCAD grads will contribute to that reputation,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for VCAD. “The fashion scholarships that will be awarded this summer will help even more students achieve success in the world of fashion.”
