Crossover between men's and women's fashion continues in 2010
Vancouver, BC - March 19, 2010 - With the line between men's and women's clothing becoming increasingly blurred, you may have noticed a stylish crossover between the sexes this year.
While girls the world over were borrowing clothes from their boyfriends last year, it's the guys who are now raiding their girlfriends' closets. Labelled the Girlfriend Look, this new wave in fashion has guys opting for sleeker silhouettes and shrunken sizes. Experimentally-minded men are stepping out in leggings, short shorts, skirts and skinny jeans, and even accessorizing with murses or clutches.
Of course, guys have been wearing skinny jeans for years now, but this current trend has them borrowing from women's styles like never before. And since girls aren't wearing such feminine clothes anymore, it makes it easier for style-conscious guys to rifle through their drawers in search of slimmer fits and more tailored pieces.
While Marc Jacobs has been rocking the skirt for awhile now, guys who have more recently picked up on the trendy Girlfriend Look are Jamie Hince of The Kills, who likes his denim shorts almost as short as Kate Moss', as well as the legging-wearing Russell Brand.
