UCAN and VCAD Proud Sponsors of Spirit Alive! Choral Music Gala

Vancouver, BC -- Visual College of Art and Design is teaming up with University Canada West to cosponsor the 11th Annual Spirit Alive! Choral Music Gala Festival on Saturday, May 30 at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.

This event showcases the exceptionally-gifted young men and women of the St. Patrick Regional Secondary Choirs and their dedication to enriching Vancouver's arts and culture community through a "commitment to excellence and joyful noise!"

Under Director Tony Araujo, the St. Patrick Regional Secondary Choirs are part of an award-winning high school choral music program that consists of over half of the student body enrolled. St. Pat's Choirs were the first Canadian high school choirs to participate in the "Festival of Gold" US National Choral Invitational where they have received three consecutive Gold Rankings. In addition, the Choirs have been invited to perform at international conferences and festivals throughout North America, Europe and Asia, including concerts at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, Canterbury Cathedral and the United Nations.

"Spirit Alive! is an outstanding example of passion, dedication and creative expression for youth in Greater Vancouver," says Larry Heinzlmeir, VCAD's VP of Admissions.

As joint-sponsors of this year's event, the schools have purchased $5,000 worth of tickets for teachers and Grade 11 and 12 students from across the Lower Mainland to attend this inspirational and outstanding performance.
