Vancouver animation studios make a splash in 3D animation
Vancouver, BC - April 19, 2010 - Atomic Cartoons knows a thing or two about cartoons. Founded in 1999 by Trevor Bentley, Mauro Casalese, Olaf Miller and Emmy Award winner Rob Davies, they each have over a decade's worth of experience in animation production.
Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Atomic Cartoons is one of Canada's leading animation production studios showcasing the country's top designers, animators, writers and directors. Boasting a client list that includes Disney, the WB, Teletoon, YTV, EA and Mattel, they specialize in traditional, 2D and 3D animation and have gained recognition for being pioneers of Flash animation.
When Atomic Cartoons opened its doors 11 years ago, their first project was to create 26 episodes of a show called Milo's Bug Quest. They have since gone on to work on cartoons such as Ed, Edd, n' Eddy, The Oblongs, and a 44-minute Christmas special based on the song, Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer. These days, they are creating and producing popular TV shows such as Atomic Betty, World of Quest, Johnny Test and Big City Birds. Their animation crew of four has also expanded to a staff of 15 core employees and approximately 50 contract workers!
Earlier this year, Atomic Cartoons was awarded a Pixie Award for Mythunderstood, an animated short about a dodgeball team that was created and directed by Tyler Schroeder.
