Job possibilities are endless for 3D animation grads
Vancouver, BC - March 26, 2010 - 3D animation jobs are not limited to working on animated movies and TV shows. There are a number of different employment opportunities for those who are interested in 3D animation and modeling.
3D modelers and animators can consider a career in forensics. Crime scene investigators use special software, designed specifically for law enforcement to bring crime scenes to life. 3D tech gadgets such as laser scanners with built-in digital cameras measure and map out millions of data points, producing a 3D rendering of the crime scene. These high-tech representations provide a much more accurate analysis of bullet holes, blood spatter and other evidence that is hard to document with photos, which are flat and lack vertical depth.
The ability to capture and animate a crime scene allows forensic investigators to analyze the scene over and over. In fact, 3D technology gives them the ability to go back weeks, months or even years later to re-examine detailed images of the original crime scene.
Graduates of the 3D Modeling Animation program at VCAD can also think about 3D animation jobs in jewelry design. Jewelry designers who use the 3D design process can make any type of jewelry from a photograph or hand-drawn picture. Combining custom design with technology, they can take a 2D photo of a ring, necklace or other piece of jewelry and turn it into a 3D design that is then made into a wax model and cast into the precious metal of the customer's choice.
Crime scene investigation and jewelry design are just two possible 3D animation jobs that animators can consider. For more information, check out VCAD's 3D Modeling Animation Art & Design program.
