Born in Bristol England in 1964 into a family that included an aircraft designer, a boat builder, a commercial artist and a garment designer, it's easy to understand why Stephanie St. Loe would pursue a career in design industry. She grew up drawing, painting and sculpting. From an early age she enjoyed taking things apart to see how they worked, and building ambitious but poorly constructed ‘forts' and tree houses. Naturally she became an interior designer. In 1986 Stephanie graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Design from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba. At her final portfolio review meeting, the faculty advised her that her ability to create very original designs and develop spaces with strong character might not find full scope in a conservative city like Winnipeg: "You will scare the clients," they warned her, "and they will frustrate you." So she moved to Vancouver. Over the next 23 years, with an impressive list of commercial and residential projects, she learned to master conservative design and still manage to push the envelope. As a senior designer for some of Vancouver's prominent design firms, Stephanie discovered an ability to mentor and foster the development of other designers. When she started work as an independent designer, she took up teaching in order to continue the mentoring role. Stephanie is NCIDQ certified. Trevor has a great enthusiasm for creativity and his artistic versatility covers numerous genres, including photography, drawing, illustration, painting, print making and graphic design.
